How ReelDown works

1. You submit a post link

The web form sends the URL to ReelDown. For Instagram, it checks the host and supported post format before requesting media. Do not enter passwords, cookies or confidential links.

2. A media provider retrieves an available result

ReelDown uses an external media provider to resolve the submitted post into available files. The provider and source platform affect which items, resolutions and audio are returned. A public post is not a guarantee of a successful result.

3. You review the preview

The page shows the media returned for your request. Compare it with the original before saving. A carousel can contain photos, videos or a partial list of items.

4. Your browser saves the selected file

File requests can pass through ReelDown’s transfer endpoints to reach your browser. When a ZIP option is offered, the server packages the requested returned items into an archive. Save locations depend on your browser and device.

Temporary processing and limits

The service temporarily caches media results to avoid repeating a recent lookup. Rate limits and provider restrictions may affect requests. Technical request processing and logs exist; this is not a promise of zero data collection. See the privacy policy.

What the tool cannot do

It cannot bypass private-account access, recover expired Stories, reconstruct missing album slides, upscale a source file, or grant permission to reuse someone else’s work. Highlights collections and profile-picture lookup are not supported.
