Instagram Reels With Sound: Download and Troubleshoot Audio
To save a Reel with sound, copy its direct link, paste it into the Instagram Reels downloader, then play the saved file to check the audio. Sound is available only if it is present in the media returned for that Reel. A download cannot guarantee access to every song or restore an audio track that is unavailable.
Download the Reel and check the saved file
- Open the specific public Reel you want to save. Use content you own or have permission to download.
- Copy the Reel link from Instagram’s sharing options. A direct Reel address contains
/reel/; a profile or audio-library link does not identify the same item. - Paste the link into ReelDown and submit it. If media is available, review the result before downloading.
- Save the returned video, open the saved file and check both picture and sound. A silent autoplay preview alone does not prove that the file has no audio.
ReelDown returns media made available by its provider. It does not promise to locate a separate licensed song, reconstruct missing audio or merge every video with its original soundtrack. Quality and availability depend on the source.
The downloaded Reel is silent: what to check
1. Check playback controls
Unmute the player and raise media volume. Check whether sound is going to Bluetooth headphones or another output device. Try playing a different video with known sound to distinguish a playback problem from a problem with this file.
2. Compare the same Reel in Instagram
Open the original link and check whether it currently plays the sound you expected. If the original is silent or the audio is unavailable to you, downloading again may not change the result. Availability can change after a Reel is published.
3. Open the completed file in another player
Wait for the download to finish, then open the actual file rather than a thumbnail. If one player is silent and another plays audio, the difference is in playback. If the completed file is silent in both, the returned media may not include a usable audio track.
4. Avoid repeated retries
Check that you copied the intended Reel and that it is still public. A later attempt may help with a temporary failure, but repeating the same request rapidly can trigger rate limits. ReelDown cannot promise that retrying will restore missing music.
Find the download on your device
iPhone or iPad: look in the Downloads folder in the Files app, or use Safari’s Downloads control. Apple explains the current workflow in its guide to finding downloaded files.
Android: check Chrome’s Downloads list or your device’s Files app. See Google’s download instructions. A file may be saved successfully even if it has not appeared in your gallery.

Can I download just the song as MP3?
The ReelDown workflow described here saves the returned media file. It does not provide a separate music-library or MP3 extraction feature. If you need a soundtrack for reuse, obtain it from a source that grants the rights you need; downloading a Reel does not grant permission to reuse its music.
