Is ReelDown Safe? What to Check Before Downloading
This guide explains the current ReelDown workflow and practical checks you can make. It is written by ReelDown, not an independent security reviewer. A website’s name, a badge or a successful download is not a guarantee that every future visit or file is risk-free.
What the browser tool asks for
The downloader asks for a public post link. Its normal download form does not ask for your Instagram password, two-factor code or session cookies. You can use the web tool without installing the optional extension.
Submitting a link sends it to ReelDown for processing and to the media provider used to retrieve the result. Do not paste private account information, access tokens or confidential links. Read the privacy policy for the site’s stated data practices; this guide does not claim that no technical logs or temporary processing data exist.
Check the address and the result
- Check that you are using https://reeldown.app/. Similar-looking domains may be unrelated.
- Compare the returned preview with the post you intended to save.
- Review the file name and type. A request to save a photo or video should not require you to run an executable installer.
- Keep browser security protections enabled. If the browser blocks a file or displays a warning, investigate it rather than disabling protection to force the download.
