ReelDown, FastDL and SnapInsta: How to Compare Downloaders
Choosing a downloader depends on whether it handles your post correctly and saves a usable file on your device. This page is published by ReelDown. It is a comparison checklist, not an independent ranking of ReelDown, FastDL or SnapInsta.
The previous numerical scores and claims about competitors’ compression, logging, advertising and limits were not backed by documented testing. They have been removed. We have not completed a current, controlled comparison of all three services, so there is no supported overall winner here.
Start with the platform and post type
Check the tool’s own page for the exact link type you need. A tool accepting an Instagram Reel does not establish support for Stories, multi-item posts or another platform. ReelDown has separate pages for Instagram Reels, Instagram carousels, Facebook and Pinterest.
Use a public post that you can open normally. If the source is unavailable, a failed download alone does not establish that one service performs worse than another.
Compare the saved result

Use the same post and device for a comparison, and record the date. A single successful request is evidence for that request; it is not an uptime statistic or proof that all posts work. Do not run repeated requests to defeat a service’s rate limit.
Pay particular attention to carousels
A successful first image does not prove that a whole carousel was retrieved. Count the original items before comparing the result. Open a sample video as well as a photo when the post contains both formats.
ReelDown displays the items returned by its media provider. If the returned count differs from the source, the result may be incomplete. Individual item controls let you select a file. The batch control uses a ZIP on iOS and individual downloads on other devices; browser settings can affect saving several files. Check the saved items before treating the archive as a complete copy of the post.
Evaluate privacy information separately
Read each service’s current privacy information and consider what happens to a pasted URL. Do not infer that a service keeps no logs merely because it has no sign-in form. HTTPS protects a connection; it does not establish a zero-retention policy or an independent safety certification.

Choose based on your task
If you only need one image, a clear individual-file action may matter more than a batch option. If you need an entire post, completeness and file naming matter. A useful future comparison should publish its test method, device details, dated results and limitations. Until then, treat unsupported claims of perfect quality, unlimited access or universal superiority cautiously.
