Open the person's profile
Search for or open the Instagram account whose Notes you want to see again.
If you previously muted an account's Instagram Notes, you can restore them without changing that account's Posts or Stories settings. The profile Mute menu lets you manage Notes separately when the option is available in your current app version.
Open the person's Instagram profile, tap Following, then Mute. Change the Notes control so that person's Notes are no longer muted.
Instagram can change menu wording or placement between app versions, so focus on the Notes setting inside that account's Mute controls rather than the exact appearance of the switch.
The most direct route is through the profile of the account whose Notes you previously muted.
Search for or open the Instagram account whose Notes you want to see again.
Tap the Following button on that account's profile to open its relationship controls.
Choose Mute to view the content categories that can be managed separately for that account.
Change the Notes control so Notes are no longer muted. When that account shares a Note that you are eligible to see, it can appear in the Notes area of your Instagram inbox again.
Use the account's own profile when you already know whose Notes you muted.
Visit that person's profile, open Following, select Mute, and change the Notes setting so their Notes are no longer muted.
The control is account-specific. Changing the Notes setting for one person does not automatically change it for every account you have muted.
Notes are managed as their own content category when Instagram provides that control. You do not need to restore muted Posts or Stories just to see that account's Notes again.
Some current Instagram app versions provide a Muted accounts list in settings. This can help when you do not remember which profiles you muted.
Open Instagram settings and look for a Muted accounts section. Menu names and locations can vary between versions.
Open the mute controls for the account you want to manage, then restore its Notes setting.
If you already know the username, opening the person's profile and using Following → Mute is usually the clearest route.
IG and Instagram refer to the same Notes control. The steps depend on the current mobile interface, not on which abbreviation you use.
Open the person's profile, select Following, open Mute, and restore the Notes setting.
You manage this setting separately for each account whose Notes you muted.
Instagram Notes are associated with the inbox experience. After you restore an account's Notes, you may see future Notes there when that account shares one with an audience that includes you.
Restoring Notes changes whether those Notes can appear for you. It does not automatically reverse other mute settings.
When the account posts a Note that is shared with an audience that includes you, Instagram can show it in your Notes area again.
If you also muted the person's Posts or Stories, restoring Notes does not require you to change those other settings.
Changing your Notes mute preference is not presented to the other account as a direct Instagram notification.
Unmuting does not guarantee that a Note is available at that moment. Notes still depend on whether the account has shared one and whether you are included in its audience.
Restoring the setting does not create a Note. You need to wait until that account shares one that is available to you.
Notes have audience controls. A Note can be unavailable to you even when you have not muted that account.
Instagram can move or rename controls between versions. Updating the app can help if your interface is missing a feature that is otherwise available to your account.
This page focuses only on restoring Instagram Notes. General account muting, including what Mute means and what it changes, is covered separately.
